Lokuttarakathā Katame dhammā lokuttarā?

Which phenomena are supramundane?

Cattāro satipaṭṭhānā, cattāro sammappadhānā, cattāro iddhipādā, pañcindriyāni, pañca balāni, satta bojjhaṅgā, ariyo aṭṭhaṅgiko maggo, cattāro ariyamaggā, cattāri ca sāmaññaphalāni, nibbānañca— ime dhammā lokuttarā.

The four dwellings of mindfulness, the four right efforts, the four bases of spiritual power, the five faculties, the five powers, the seven factors of enlightenment, the noble eightfold path, the four noble paths, and the four fruits of recluseship, and Nibbāna: these phenomena are supramundane.

Lokuttarāti kenaṭṭhena lokuttarā?

Why are they called supramundane?

Lokaṁ tarantīti—lokuttarā. Lokā uttarantīti—lokuttarā.

Because they transcend the world: they are supramundane.

Lokato uttarantīti—lokuttarā.

Because they surpass the world: they are supramundane.

Lokamhā uttarantīti—lokuttarā. Lokaṁ atikkamantīti—lokuttarā.

Because they go beyond the world: they are supramundane.

Lokaṁ samatikkamantīti—lokuttarā.

Because they rise above the world: they are supramundane.

Lokaṁ samatikkantāti—lokuttarā.

Because they overcome the world: they are supramundane.

Lokena atirekāti—lokuttarā. Lokantaṁ tarantīti—lokuttarā.

Because they completely overcome the world: they are supramundane.

Lokā nissarantīti—lokuttarā. Lokato nissarantīti—lokuttarā.

Because they have completely overcome the world: they are supramundane.

Lokamhā nissarantīti—lokuttarā. Lokā nissaṭāti—lokuttarā.

Because they are superior to the world: they are supramundane.

Lokena nissaṭāti—lokuttarā. Lokamhā nissaṭāti—lokuttarā.

Because they cross over the end of the world: they are supramundane.

Loke na tiṭṭhantīti—lokuttarā.

Because they escape from the world: they are supramundane.

Lokasmiṁ na tiṭṭhantīti—lokuttarā.

Because they are liberated from the world: they are supramundane.

Loke na limpantīti—lokuttarā. Lokena na limpantīti—lokuttarā.

Because they are released from the world: they are supramundane.

Loke asaṁlittāti—lokuttarā. Lokena asaṁlittāti—lokuttarā.

Because they are free from the world: they are supramundane.

Loke anupalittāti—lokuttarā. Lokena anupalittāti—lokuttarā.

Because they do not remain in the world: they are supramundane.

Loke vippamuttāti—lokuttarā. Lokena vippamuttāti—lokuttarā.

Because they do not stay in the world: they are supramundane.

Lokā vippamuttāti—lokuttarā. Lokato vippamuttāti—lokuttarā.

Because they are not attached to the world: they are supramundane.

Lokamhā vippamuttāti—lokuttarā. Loke visaññuttāti—lokuttarā.

Because they are not tainted by the world: they are supramundane.

Lokena visaññuttāti—lokuttarā. Lokā visaññuttāti—lokuttarā.

Because they are untainted by the world: they are supramundane.

Lokasmiṁ visaññuttāti—lokuttarā. Lokato visaññuttāti—lokuttarā.

Because they are free from the world: they are supramundane.

Lokamhā visaññuttāti—lokuttarā. Lokā sujjhantīti—lokuttarā.

Because they are completely free from the world: they are supramundane.

Lokato sujjhantīti—lokuttarā. Lokamhā sujjhantīti—lokuttarā.

Because they are purified from the world: they are supramundane.

Lokā visujjhantīti—lokuttarā. Lokato visujjhantīti—lokuttarā.

Because they are completely purified from the world: they are supramundane.

Lokamhā visujjhantīti—lokuttarā.

Because they arise from the world: they are supramundane.

Lokā vuṭṭhahantīti—lokuttarā. Lokato vuṭṭhahantīti—lokuttarā.

Because they turn away from the world: they are supramundane.

Lokamhā vuṭṭhahantīti—lokuttarā. Lokā vivaṭṭantīti—lokuttarā.

Because they are not attached to the world: they are supramundane.

Lokato vivaṭṭantīti—lokuttarā. Lokamhā vivaṭṭantīti—lokuttarā.

Because they are not grasped by the world: they are supramundane.

Loke na sajjantīti—lokuttarā. Loke na gayhantīti—lokuttarā.

Because they are not bound by the world: they are supramundane.

Loke na bajjhantīti—lokuttarā.

Because they cut off the world: they are supramundane.

Lokaṁ samucchindantīti—lokuttarā.

They are beyond the world: transcendent.

Lokaṁ samucchinnattāti—lokuttarā.

They calm the world: transcendent.

Lokaṁ paṭippassambhentīti—lokuttarā.

They have calmed the world: transcendent.

Lokaṁ paṭippassambhitattāti—lokuttarā.

They are not on the path of the world: transcendent.

Lokassa apathāti—lokuttarā.

They are not going to the world: transcendent.

Lokassa agatīti—lokuttarā. Lokassa avisayāti—lokuttarā.

They are not within the range of the world: transcendent.

Lokassa asādhāraṇāti—lokuttarā.

They are not common to the world: transcendent.

Lokaṁ vamantīti—lokuttarā.

They vomit the world: transcendent.

Lokaṁ na paccāvamantīti—lokuttarā.

They do not re-ingest the world: transcendent.

Lokaṁ pajahantīti—lokuttarā.

They abandon the world: transcendent.

Lokaṁ na upādiyantīti—lokuttarā.

They do not cling to the world: transcendent.

Lokaṁ visinentīti—lokuttarā.

They release the world: transcendent.

Lokaṁ na ussinentīti—lokuttarā.

They do not lift up the world: transcendent.

Lokaṁ vidhūpentīti—lokuttarā.

They scatter the world: transcendent.

Lokaṁ na sandhūpentīti—lokuttarā.

They do not gather the world: transcendent.

Lokaṁ samatikkamma abhibhuyya tiṭṭhantīti—lokuttarā.

They stand having overcome and surpassed the world: transcendent.

Lokuttarakathā niṭṭhitā.
